Rug Description

Antique Caucasian Shirvan Rug. 1880-1900. A wonderful antique Caucasian Shirvan carpet on a midnight blue background. The background of this antique Shirvan carpet is dominated by three medallions with a stepped profile arranged vertically over the entire surface. The medallions, alternating blue and red, are decorated with cross and rosette motifs. The rest of the background is interspersed with boteh motifs that follow one another in parallel, alternating the position of the small plumes, in which cruciform and filling motifs in Caucasian style are introduced. The main border of this Caucasian Shirvan rug, in red, is decorated with elegant floral motifs that alternate with a cruciform star. The border on an ivory background filled with stylized rosette motifs gives a particular brightness. The knotting of this antique Caucasian Shirvan carpet is very fine, the wool is compact and bright, the state of conservation is impeccable.

So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured.
