Rug Description

This antique caucasian Karabakh (Qarabag) rug is completely hand knotted in wool on cotton foundation. A very desirable rug with the eagle pattern very well known in the Caucasian region. The eagle motif placed on a dark brown background, on a row of four creates a further graphic effect making the areas surrounded by indented wings, contours of small rhomboidal medallions inside which we can find traditional motifs and rosettes typical of Qarabag design. the main frame bears the motif of the toothed leaf and the chalice. The contrasts of the eagle motifs in pale pink at the ends and bright red in the internal ones are very interesting. the small borders make up a chessboard of motifs and bright colors giving a pleasant vivacity to the carpet. The modularity of the design and the chromatic combinations with such attention to detail, allow this carpet to be placed both together with other antique carpets, but also in a very modern environment.


At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured.
