An antique Sarouk Farahan rug, west Persia
The pale terracotta-rust field with delicate angular floral and leafy vine around shaped charcoal-black flowering vine medallion with palmette pendants. Light beige spandrels similar. In charcoal-black border of serrated palmettes and angular floral vine between floral meander and plain stripes. Classic for this type with well balanced colours and very nicely drawn design. This rug has very good pile. Soft and lustrous wool quality. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. Attractive and good furnishing piece.
