Rug Description
Farahan rug silk, Central Persia, late 19th century: a chromatic ecstasy of imperial dignity. This is an absolute masterpiece of Persian weaving—a Farahan crafted entirely in pure silk that embodies the very essence of luxury and spirituality. The rug features a decorative composition of extraordinary interest: a majestic prayer niche (Mihrab) field, the symbolic portal to the divine, which hosts a central medallion of significant proportions, creating a dialogue between architectural rigor and ornamental freedom.
The chromatic palette is of sublime refinement: the hues range from deep purple to pale green, reaching peaks of strawberry red and the vibrant turquoise of the medallion. The silk grants the artifact an iridescent and luminous nature; thanks to the presence of precious abrash (natural color variations), the tones seem to ripple across the surface, breathing life into every single detail. The borders, adorned with minutely defined floral motifs, act as a precious jewel box, gracefully protecting the delicate and majestic central field.
Condition: Excellent. The silk pile retains its original compactness and a stunning luster. The rug preserves its original fringes, which, despite some physiological losses due to its age, attest to its authenticity and historical integrity. An artifact in splendid condition, ready to grace the most discerning collections.
Dimensions & Interior Design Advice: 209 × 126 cm. An ideal size to be displayed as a wall hanging or to reign at the center of a scholarly and refined room, carrying with it all the timeless charm of “One Thousand and One Nights.
