Rug Description

This is a rare 100% silk Farahan rug woven in central Persia circa 1880. All silk Farahan rugs are extremely rare and not many have survived through the years. The production of silk rugs in Farahan started around the middle of the 19th century and continued to the early 20th century. This example is a prime example of a silk Farahan with a traditional center medallion and the field has many large and geometric floral motifs. The border follows the theme of the rug in the sense that it has many floral palmettes but they have been drawn in a geometric form. This carpet also has multi colored fringes giving this rug a super luxurious feel. This Farahan is in exceptional condition and can be hung
