Textile Description

This is an antique Indian cashmere shawl woven during the end of the 19th century and measures 174 x 171CM in size. This piece is designed using multiple Paisley motifs in both small and extra-large sizes all focused and pointing to the center where there is an open field black circle. A special feature of this piece is that there is a signature Located in the center circle. At both ends of this textile are pairs of polychrome mihrabs that contain blossoming floral shrub motifs. This shawl is in excellent condition and still contains its original ends and sides with only one small repair located in the black center circle which is normal and consistent with its age.


At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
