Textile Description

A High Quality Kashmir Square Shawl “Rumal”, Indian Textile. The emerald-green field with stylised come-devises and hooked vine linked with central polychrome radiating rosette centrepiece. In light rust border of serrated cone-devises and boteh motifs. Outer meandering floral vine and hooked panel stripes. Classic for this type with very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. This textile is very finely woven. Selvages and ends original. Late Sikh Period (1850 ca.) example, and very elegant piece.
