Antique Persian Bidjar Carpet, 19th Century. A very elegant Persian Bidjar carpet (Bijar) of rare beauty and availability on the international market. The proportions of this antique Bijar rug allow for easy placement on a sofa area or reception area. Despite the midnight blue of the background, this antique Bijar carpet is particularly bright, thanks to the impressive skill of the knotters, in knowing how to combine colors and contrasts, dimensions and proportions of the filling motifs in a commendable way. The background, decorated all over in the entire surface, is defined by variations of the “harshang” or crab motif and motifs present in Caucasian Karagashly productions or typical palmettes of expressly Persian tradition. The main motifs of the field are framed by small filling motifs, chiseling and defining the chromatic harmony of this sophisticated antique Persian Bijar carpet. Note on the small bright red medallions, an inscription in Farsi, further denoting the prestige of this authentic work of art. The main border on a brick red background with a stylized herati motif is surrounded by two small borders with a cloud bundle motif. This antique Bijar carpet is in excellent condition, the colors are well preserved highlighting some small “abrash” (shades) which give the carpet further charm and importance to your environment.
