Rug Description

This is an antique Ganja rug woven in the central part of the Caucasus mountains during the end of the 19th century. It has a traditional Ganja design with diagonal strips with repeating hooked boxes within them. The border designs in this rug are much more unusual and the main borders interlocking design creates movement within this rug. The other two brown-colored borders are designed with hooked medallion motifs which represent carbs.

This rug has been woven on all wool foundation and has 100% wool pile made with all-natural vegetable dyes. It is in overall good condition with some areas of low pile which is consistent with its age. It has been professionally cleaned and is ready to be used and enjoy in any home setting or be added to any rug collection.
