A fine Turkish silk rug, signed Hereke
The field divided to six rectangular compartments, vertical decisions in the shape of columns. Each panel with mihrab above, containing various polychrome floral motifs and arabesques. In an indigo border of multicoloured floral cartouches and small floral motifs between pale blue and pistachio-green floral panel, rosette and floral meander stripes. Very good example for this type with very well drawn design and good colour combination. This rug has full pile, soft and shiny silk quality. Selvages original. Ends with partly woven narrow floral open strip and fringes. In general, this rug is in a very good condition throughout. Sought after type on the market. Very attractive piece.
