An antique Agra rug, north India
The ivory field with overall design of bold polychrome palmettes, angular floral vine and hooked leaves. In sandy-beige border of palmettes and meandering leafy vine between shaded deep rust X-motif and small rosette stripes. Outer plain stripe. Apart of light touches of wear to the top pile in one of two small places, barely visible, this rug has very good pile. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes secured. In general, this rug is in very good usable condition. Sought after type and seldom rug size with this design. Elegant and very good furnishing piece.
