Rug Description

Antique semi antique Caucasian Kabistan rug. 1920-1950. The decorative repertoire of Caucasian carpets is very varied, both because it includes motifs from its own local tradition and because of the contaminations with the Persian and European worlds. In this Caucasian Kabistan carpet, we find the background, on a salmon pink background, a series of medallions, alternating in style and colour. In particular, those on an ivory background draw inspiration from well-known Kazak Fachralo, where the orange colors stand out. The central border with modulation of the herati design in the Karabak manner is very interesting. The colors of this Caucasian Kabistan rug are soft and lively at the same time. The background is dotted with modular elements that frame the medallions, circumscribed in bands decorated with a polychrome grid on an ivory background, giving particular brightness and definition to the medallions. The state of conservation of this Caucasian Kabistan carpet is excellent, the proportions are rare, the design is unusual. A Caucasian carpet like this Kabistan can coexist with antique and rustic furnishings and, due to the design, also with a refined modern style.

So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured.
