Rug Description

Antique Caucasian Derbend rug. 1900-1920. An antique Caucasian Derbend carpet completely hand-knotted in wool. Derbend carpets contain in their various interpretations, designs and motifs belonging to the Caucasian textile culture. In particular, in this antique Caucasian Derbend carpet, we can appreciate the medallion design with an eagle motif. The midnight blue background includes four imposing “medallions” alternating in brick red and mustard yellow-olive green in which we find rosettes and stylization of the bird, typical in the graphic representation of Caucasian carpets. The rest of the background of this antique Derbend carpet is completed by rosette motifs and small bird motifs. The main border on an ivory background contains polychrome star motifs, offering a pleasant visual effect, thanks to the proportions and the use of pastel shades. The state of conservation of this antique Caucasian Derbend carpet is excellent. It can coexist with any type of furniture and flooring.

So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured.
