Antique Persian Kashan Dabir Round Rug,1900 ca. A very rare round carpet made in the Dabir atelier in Kashan. The creation of round carpets is probably among the most difficult challenges a knotter can face. Being able to create small-sized and finely knotted ones like this elegant Kashan rug is very unlikely even today with looms that are much more “technological” than those of the past. This rare and unusual antique Kashan Dabir carpet, on a midnight blue background, has the classic decorative structure of central medallion carpets. In this case, we find a delightful central medallion, predominantly red, with an external profile rounded by aslimi motifs in conjunction with each other. The rest of the background is midnight blue, studded with palmettes and multicolored floral motifs. The main border in a midnight blue background, together with the cream-coloured side borders, embraces the background of the carpet in a delightful play of supple floral motifs, lightening the overall graphic impact of the carpet. A small and rare masterpiece, this ancient Kashan Dabir carpet, discreet and elegant and in excellent condition.
