Rug Description

Pair of Antique Persian Small Shahsavan Rugs, 1900-1920. This extraordinary pair rugs in the past were used as Khorjin (saddle bags) and very important to be recognized by other ethnic group during the spring pasture in the north west Persian (Iranian) areas. The Shah Savan ( Shah Sawan) were based between Iran and Azerbaijan and often we can find on rugs and textiles many similitudes, but in this case, we are in front of a very special design, with Kurdish influences as well. Despite the small dimension, this twin rugs, are extremely fine knotted with a very intricate modular design. The elegance of the colors combination and the quality of the wool are well modulated and the main border, on ivory ground gives the rugs brightness by embellishing the lattice on a central dark blue filed where the floral decorations in golden yellow and coral red are well proportioned. Mint condition, recommended collector items.
