Rug Description

An antique Turkmen Asmalik, Yomut rug
The light rust field with diagonal rows of double serrated lozenge panes. In an ivory border of stepped panels and bars between, floral, barber-pole and arrow-head stripes. Ivory skirt at one end with stylised birds, chevron batons and hooked bars. Great example for this type with very well drawn design and is usual skirt design. This rug has slight localized wear to the pile, otherwise good pile. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, this rug is in very good usable condition. Very attractive and good example from Yomut tribe.
