Antique Khotan Rug, 1920 ca.

A magnificent rug made in East Turkestan with all over design. The lotus motif, enclosed in a serrated conrice, is repeated in rows of three across the entire midnight blue background, in a delicate chromatic effect not only due to the use of the chosen shades but also due to the abrashes which offer further movement to the static and modularity of the design. The border is very well defined in the curvilinear polychrome design that embraces the background. A Khotan carpet of high quality and in excellent condition.
