A Small Silk Antique Kashan “TAFFAZOLI”, 1900 ca.

Kashan is among the most renowned cities for the quality and refinement of its carpets. There are many “workshop” famous for making Kashan carpets distinguishable from all other Persian carpets. Among the great names and masters in the history of the Persian carpet, we find the famous Kashan “Tafazoli” (or Tafazzoli). This rare Kashan completely in silk has warm and well-modulated shades. The shine of the silk, even when we observe the carpet from its light side, is particularly delicate, defined in the design and never brazen. Generally Kashan silk carpets is decidedly rare to find in this small size. A real jewel, in which all the decorations, from the “bouquets” to the “twigs” to the border, are harmoniously arranged on the “antique pink” background. The small constructions present under the medallion on both sides are very interesting, most likely of Zoroastrian inspiration.
