An antique Malayir kelleh, West Persia
Size, approx: 495cm. x 203cm.
The indigo field with various multicoloured angular and serrated floral motifs around triple ivory lozenge medallions with similar design. Abrashed camel-beige floral spandrels. In multiple borders of various angular floral motifs, flowering vine and barber-pole stripes.
Striking and very nicely drawn design and well balanced colours. The carpet has very good pile, soft wool quality. Ends and selvages original. Very good for furnishing size with unusual large size. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition throughout. Classic for this type. Elegant and attractive piece.
