An antique Amoghli Meshed carpet, North-East Persia
Size, approx: 496cm. x 285cm.
The deep indigo field with overall design of multicoloured flowering vine, bold arabesque and serrated leaves around open large medallion with polychrome palmettes, bold arabesque and floral meander. Open spandrels similar. In soft red border of bold palmettes, arabesques and cypress trees and small floral motifs between ivory palmettes and arabesque stripes. Outer plain stripe. Very good example for this type, seldom found on the market. Classic colours, week blended and very nicely drawn open design. This carpet has very good pile, soft and lustrous wool quality. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, this carpet is in very good condition. Great furnishing piece. Very attractive. Signature cartouche Amoghli at one end.
