Textile Description
This is an antique English needlepoint rug woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1900 and measures 217 x 122CM in size. This piece has a traditional all-over variant of the famous “harshang” design from Persia with abstract “carb” motifs set on a dark blue background color. The border has alternating geometric floral medallions set on a light cream-colored background. This needlepoint has originally backed on parchment and a unique feature of this piece is that it bears the initials of the weaver on the back. This piece has been preserved in overall excellent condition adding to its rarity and beauty.
At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
