Description

This is an antique Khotan rug woven in eastern Turkistan during the first quarter of the 20th century circa 1920s. At each end of the rug, there are two vases located in the main fields which give life to two pomegranate trees ascending all the way to the center of the rug where they meet each other and form a circle. The first main border is made up of repeating floral motifs each with three blossoming flowers enclosed in squares. The outer main border is a highly traditional Khotan motif he has seen in many of their carpets which represent the clouds and because of its geometric drawing almost looks like a building within the clouds. This carpet is in overall perfect condition retaining its full pile and is ready to be used and enjoyed for many more years.
