Rug Description

Antique Chinese Peking Imperial Gold-Color Rug, 1900-1920. A wonderful golden yellow Chinese imperial carpet, a symbol of royalty. The carpet has very particular dimensions, going beyond the canonical standards of ordinary proportions. This carpet with timeless elegance is extremely decorative and, considering the era, particularly modern in its chromatic and decorative whole. The carpet is dominated by a medallion barely hinted at by the outlines of the design that compose it, creating a sort of ” four leaf clover”. Small floral motifs hover alternately across the entire field, leaving room for the gold color of the background. The border on an ivory background is very interesting, the denser decoration of which balances with the second, much airier and lighter one. At the four corners of this last border there are four small patterns in intense blue.
