Rug Description

Antique Indian Kashmir Silk Rug, 1950-1970. A classic carpet with a decorative layout of clear Indo-Persian inspiration in pure silk. The floral decorative style refers to the carpets of the Safavid period and continuity with the Indian Mughal style. The carpet is extremely finely knotted and has a clear design. On the coppery orange-red background, floral designs emerge enriched by small palmette motifs across the entire background, all over. A small medallion, a cameo in the centre, gives brilliance and vigor to all the ivory-coloured palmettes, illuminating the carpet. In this Kashmir silk carpet, the modulation of the border is particularly soft in the lines of the herati motif that runs across on a midnight blue background.
