An antique Seychour rug, South Caucasus.

The charcoal-black field with overall diagonal rows of stylised multicoloured bold and serrated floral boteh. In sandy-yellow border of stylised polychrome sunburst palmettes and angular vine between ivory and blue flowering vine stripes. Outer barber-pile stripes.

Unusual design for this type more associated with Shirvan group. Design is well drawn with well balanced colours. This rug has slight wear to the me top pile mainly on the field. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general this piece is in good usable condition. Very nice furnishing piece. Attractive.
