Rug Description
Antique Caucasian Konakend All-over Rug, 1920 ca.
A very particular Caucasian carpet that combines Azeri-Caucasian decorative styles in a single example. Starting from the border, we find the “running dog” motif in the Quba Zeickhur style. The main border develops with the “crab” motif on a vermilion red background. A portion of the entire carpet is defined by a significant abrash which affects both the borders and the background. The pattern of filling the background is typical of the production of Konagend carpets. Note that the fringe finishes are still intact. Excellent state of conservation.
