Textile Description
Greek manufacture, traditional ethnic embroidery: a gateway of history and color between architecture and symbolism. A stunning example of Greek textile art, this embroidery stands out for its exceptional “architectural” decorative structure. The composition is designed like the portal of a classical temple: a solemn central niche, embellished with spiral motifs evoking eternal movement and continuity, serves as the visual centerpiece. The decorative scheme, despite its rigid and geometric layout, is masterfully softened by an extremely complex and sophisticated chromatic palette.
The “portal” is flanked by floral modulations in vivid yet delicate colors, which seem to bloom along the ideal columns of the structure. The sequential borders are of exquisite elegance, where geometric star motifs blend with harmoniously arranged floral elements. A detail of significant technical and collector value lies in the sections embroidered with different techniques: this alternation of stitches and textures creates a play of relief and depth that enriches the tactile and visual perception of the fabric.
The color palette is a triumph of harmony: the contrasts are sharp yet never jarring, bringing to life an artifact that is both an anthropological specimen and a high-school work of decorative art.
Condition: Excellent. The vibrancy of the yarns and the integrity of the textile support have been carefully preserved at the Mollaian Rugs Gallery.
Dimensions & Interior Design Advice: 150 × 90 cm. A precious and versatile format, ideal for framing as a painting or displaying as a wall hanging, capable of adding a sophisticated, ethnic-chic character to any prestigious setting.
