Rug Description
An antique Senneh rug, west Persia
The deep indigo field with stylised polychrome heteri design enclosing large stepped ivory medallion with similar pattern and smaller rust floral lozenge panel with palmette centrepiece. In rust-red border of polychrome palmettes, hooked panes and angular vine between blue flowering vine, barber-pole and plain stripes. Classic for this type with very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. Apart of slight wear to the top pile in few places, barely visible, this rug has very good pile. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, very good usable condition throughout. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
