Rug Description

An antique Turkmen rug
The rust-red field with single column of indigo linked lozenge medallions, each containing rust-red shaped floral centrepiece. In narrow double border of open flowerhead hooked cartouches and angular leaves. Outer barber-pole and plain stripes. Very good example for this type with well balanced colours and bold design. This rug has slight localized wear to the pile, otherwise good pile. Selvages original with touches of rebound on cord, well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, this piece is in very good usable condition despite localized imperfection. Classic for this type.
