This vibrant Scandinavian Rya rug exemplifies the bold, modernist approach of mid-20th century Nordic textile design. Woven with a thick, shaggy wool pile, Rya rugs were originally developed in Sweden and Finland as warm coverings, later evolving into highly decorative pieces appreciated for their abstract and colorful patterns. The design features a striking rectangular composition: concentric frames in golden yellow, turquoise blue, and brown, enclosing a central red panel with diamond-shaped motifs in contrasting turquoise.
