Antique Persian Kashan Rug. 1900 ca. The city of Kashan is among the most famous for producing carpets of the highest quality and with a decorative, varied and elaborate style. We could define the city of Kashan, the city of the Persian carpet, between the mid-19th century and the mid-20th century. Great masters, carpet stylists, have found in Kashan the maximum artistic expression and elevation. In this wonderful Kashan with soft and compact Kurk wool, we can appreciate the creative flair of all the decoration present on the camel-colored background. The design within the background develops unidirectionally, containing decorative motifs left clearly in evidence, thanks to the wider spaces of the background left free, without decorations. The radial niche that follows the direction of the drawings of the background and the lower part of the carpet is very interesting as well. The background is a true homage to the Persian decorative style where the details are marked by tonal changes and suspended shapes. The borders, rich and expertly combined in the colors and proportions of the floral motifs, are further enlivened by the “gul farang” motifs in salmon pink. The state of conservation of this ancient Kashan carpet is excellent.
