Rug Description

Antique Hand-knotted Tibetan Meditation Rug, XIX century.

A small Tibetan “khagangma” meditation carpet with warm and well-distributed shades in a decidedly small space as for a carpet of this proportion. The knotted border is protected by a red fabric band. The main border is well delineated and proportionate throughout its length. Floral and Buddhist tradition motifs are sinuously distributed in a play of colors that makes it easy to distinguish the symbol of the vase at the corners, the flute and the shell. The background is preceded by two borders, one colorful with oblique bands and one with a pearl motif. At the center of this small khagangma we can appreciate a delicate medallion surrounded by small ramage. In excellent condition, collectible.
