Rug Description
Antique Caucasian Kuba (Quba) Rug, ca 1940. A genuine antique Kuba (Quba) carpet with octagonal medallions on a midnight blue background. The background of this antique Kuba (Quba) Caucasico carpet includes three medallions arranged vertically protected by small squared tiles in yellow ocher and brick red. The side medallions of this antique Caucasian Kuba (Quba) carpet are filled in brick red, while the central one is filled with the background color, defined only by the profiles and the stylized “tree of life” motifs, in brick red. The main border bears an “S” or “dragon” motif with a scalar profile, in alternating succession, creating the respective negatives on a black background. The smaller borders with a serrated pattern in red give brightness to the whole background of this antique Caucasian Kuba (Quba) carpet in pure tribal style. The state of conservation of this antique Caucasian Kuba (Quba) carpet is excellent, soft, bright and compact wool pile.
