Rug Description

An antique Shirvan rug, east Caucasus
The deep indigo field with overall design of hooked bars issuing bold palmettes together with small angular cruciform motifs and hooked leaves. In an ivory border of polychrome angular palmettes, open rosette and hooked leafy vine between rust-red hooked S-motif and barber-pole stripes. Very good type seldom found in this design which is very nicely drawn. Very good colour combination. This rug has good pile throughout. Selvages rebound-well done. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, this rug is in very good usable condition. Attractive and very good furnishing piece .
