An antique silk Sarouk rug, west Persia
The shaded indigo field with overall design of multicoloured floral and left sprays together with floral columns in each in r corner flanking stylised top part of minaret with floral morifs. Central sandy-yellow floral and inscription panel. In soft duty-pink border of floral cartouches and serrated panels between sandy-yellow angular floral vine stripes. Outer plain stripe. Beautiful example for this type with very elegant design and very good colour combination. This rug has full pile, soft and shiny silk quality. Selvages original. One end with original kilim and fringes. Other end with short fringes, secured. In general, this rug is in very good condition throughout. Very attractive and sought after type.
