Rug Description

An antique Shahsavan rug, north-west Persia
The soft rust field with horizontal bands of multicoloured bold hooked palmettes and hooked bars divided by narrow panelled stripes. Striped skirt at one end. Classic flat weave for this type with very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. Apart or touches of slight wear in few very small places, barely visible, this piece is in very good usable condition. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. Elegant piece woven on wool foundation.
