Rug Description

An unusual antique Kurdish rug.
The field with two rust and deep-blue rectangular panels containing double serrated lozenge medallion with stylised cross shape pendants. The field of each with stylised animal figures, rosettes and arrowheads. In sandy-yellow and indigo double border of various polychrome panes and batons. Between X-motif and linked small panel stripes. Wide skirt at one end with double row or bold stellar flower-heads octagons and stripped kilim. Unusual design with very good colour combination. This rug has localized wear to the pile, down for knot collar and below in small places. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes, slightly fraying. Despite imperfections this rug is in good usable condition. Interesting and nice example from tribal Kurdish weaving.
