Rug Description

Antique Persian Kashan Mohtasham Rug. Ca 1900. A very fine Kashan Motasham carpet from the early 20th century. A true example of refinement and elegance. The chromatic composition in the alternation of tones allows the drawing to be read with extreme definition. The very fine wools, in their compactness and softness, further soften the sinuosity of the floral motifs suspended on the coral red and antique pink background. The midnight blue between the counter-edges and the elegant central medallion, at the same time streamline and fix the twigs that twirl on the background. The rigorous and colorful border gives this Kashan Motasham carpet a strong, sober and cheerful character at the same time. The dimensions of this small masterpiece of the Motasham school allow it to be exhibited as a sort of “floor painting”, a true work of art, created in one of the most exclusive centers of Persian carpet production since the end of the 19th century until the 40s of the 20th century. This antique Kashan Motasham rug is in excellent condition and carefully preserved by Mollaian Rugs.
