Rug Description

A fine Kashan Mohtashem carpet, central Persia. The soft rust field with multi-coloured floral and leafy sprays and floral vases around cusped sandy-yellow and indigo double medallion with pendants containing flowering vine and arabesques. Inner sandy-yellow stylised open floral frame. In an indigo border of bold palmettes and meandering floral and leafy vine between ivory and light blue flowering vine and reciprocal stripes. Beautiful quality carpet with very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. Unusual inner frame. This carpet has good pile of very soft and lustrous kurk wool. Ends with short fringes, secured. Selvages original. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Great furnishing piece. Very attractive and sought after type.
