A fine antique Manchester Kashan rug, central Persia
The sandy-yellow field with meandering rosette and leafy vine around palmette and arabesque open medallion. In soft brick-red border of polychrome rosettes and serrated leaf vine between angular floral meander and plain stripes. Very good type, sought after on the market as very few Manchester Kashan rugs are available. Unusual small size, making this rug very desirable. The pile is full, very soft and lustrous wool quality. Selvages original. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general this rug is in very good condition. Attractive piece.
