Rug Description

Antique Persian Bijar (Bidjar) Vaghire Rug, ca 1880-1900. An antique small antique Bijar “vaghireh” rug. Before 1908, all Persian carpet productions were made with a reference “model” on which to base the creation of a large carpet. In this rare Persian Bijar carpet, we can admire the decorative styles in vogue between the 19th and 20th centuries, that is, small French flowers (gul farang), combined with other decorative styles typical of Persian Kurdish production. This small, “sample” or reference model, is made entirely of wool, the colors are of botanical origin. Thinking that from a small carpet in which we find only some decorative elements, others can be created in various shapes and color combinations, makes us immediately perceive what the ability and capacity was to imagine designs and styles from small graphic ideas of a vaghire. This type of small carpets has been a “flagship” for any carpet collector for years now.

So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured.
