Rug Description

Antique Persian rug Varamin, early 20th century: floral harmony and executive precision. A rare and sophisticated example of Varamin craftsmanship, hand-knotted around 1900. This rug represents one of the most noble and sought-after interpretations of the classic “Mina Khani” motif—an all-over design featuring a rhythmic network of circular rosettes and stylized floral elements that evoke an infinite garden. The technical perfection and knot density of Varamin rugs from this period make them highly prized by collectors, admired for their understated yet profound elegance.

The wool quality is superb: selected, lustrous, and compact wool that provides the pile with a velvety texture and exceptional clarity of design. The chromatic palette, deep and rich, unfolds across an indigo blue or terracotta red field, where polychrome floral motifs stand out in shades of ochre, ivory, and sky blue—all achieved strictly through ancient vegetable dyes. The main border, adorned with herati samovari patterns frames the central composition with an architectural rigor that enhances its perspective.
