Rug Description
Persian Rug Khorassan Kalleh, Eastern Persia, circa 1910: a triumph of lustrous wool and decorative mastery. This splendid specimen stands out for its rare Kalleh format (long and proportionally wide), a size historically reserved for the central carpets of Persian reception halls. The rug immediately captivates with the quality of its raw materials: incredibly soft, compact, and naturally luminous wools that allow for a nearly engraved definition of the design. The composition is structured on a complex decorative scheme, where a series of medallions and floral motifs follow one another in a masterful chromatic alternation, designed to highlight every single detail while maintaining overall balance.
The chromatic palette plays with warm, soft tones that instill a sense of warmth and nobility. Of exceptional interest is the border system: a succession of frames populated by Boteh motifs interpreted in various shapes and positions, alternating with sinuous floral vines. The Boteh, symbolizing regeneration here, is rendered with calligraphic precision, testifying to the skill of the Khorassan weavers.
