Swedish Kilim Masterpiece of Scandinavian Design, Signed AB MMF MR: a monumental work of textile modernism. This Kilim represents the pinnacle of post-war Swedish design. Created by the legendary designer Marianne Richter for the world-renowned Märta Måås-Fjetterström workshop, the “Josefina Röd” model is a triumph of dynamic geometry. The composition unfolds across a vibrant amaranth red ground, organized in a rigorous lattice structure that challenges the viewer’s visual perception.

The design is a masterful interplay of patterns: within the rectangular grid, blocks decorated with black triangular motifs alternate with spaces where small tiles in various shades of red create a sense of depth. This rhythm effectively “breaks” the sequence of oblique lozenges, generating a vibrant movement that contrasts with the stability of the main structure. The attention to detail is remarkable:Horizontal lines of the grid feature white spherical motifs on a black ground; Vertical lines, in sharp contrast, display black parallel lines on a white ground. The upper and lower ends are adorned with white and grey “snowflake” motifs on a brown ground, while the sides frame the composition with a dynamic play of positive and negative zig-zag triangles.

Historical Value: Signed with the workshop’s initials (AB MMF) and the designer’s mark (MR), this artifact is a museum-quality piece, symbolizing an era when Swedish artistic craftsmanship redefined modern elegance.
