Kashan Silk, An Antique Persian Rug, 1900-1920

A small Kashan decorative carpet, made of silk and in excellent condition. Despite the relatively small size, the modulation of the design remains very light and slender. The color combinations and the quality of the materials are surprisingly well preserved. The floral motif filling the background on a purple-red color is perfectly set for proportions and contrasts. The repetition of the cartouches with the inscription “Qazan” (Ghazan) is very interesting. Rich borders with small cartouches interspersed with the sinuous main border.
