Rug Description
The extraordinary and unique quality of this carpet shows the skill and creativity of the weavers of Agra in the 19th century. The oversized size of this rug indicates that it was ordered by European nobles. The special design and color of this carpet are specifically inspired by the Safavid carpets of Isfahan that were woven during the reign of Shah Abbas. The house of this beautiful carpet was formerly the Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf, Germany. Indian Oversized Agra rugs are the most exclusive and sought after of all handmade carpets.
At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
