Rug Description
Persian Antique Kashan Dabir Carpet, 1900-1920. A classic Persian medallion rug made in the atelier of the Persian master Dabir. Although the decorative style is decidedly canonical, what embellishes this Kashan rug is the typical art style of Dabir that is the distinctive feature of this magnificent carpet. This Kashan Dabir, on a red background, has a very complex and articulated design. The finely decorated central medallion is set in floral compositions typical of the decorative style of Dabir and his elaborate bouquets, cypresses and floral articulations connecting cartouches, counter-edges in alternating blue and ivory backgrounds in a combination of shapes and colors in perfect harmony with each other. The main border on a midnight blue background is very rich, containing multicolored floral motifs well-modulated in terms of proportions and chromatic balance. This antique Kashan Dabir rug is in excellent condition, carefully kept and professionally washed. A wonderful Persian carpet from one of the most prolific and profitable cities in Iran, not only in the manufacture of quality carpets, the birthplace of glorious masteroiece carpets associated with “artist-stylists” of the carpet, distinguishable both for their beauty and the respect for the local stylistic tradition inherited from their masters, and for innovating the decorative style that today makes masters like Dabir recognizable and appreciated throughout the world.
At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
