Antique Caucasian Shirvan Ci Ci (Chi- Chi) carpet. XIX Century. A rare Caucasian carpet, made in the Shirvan area with a very particular design called “CI CI” or “Chi-Chi”. The peculiarity of this antique Shirvan Ci Ci carpet is characterized by the typical border of oblique “bars” joined together with a cruciform star motif. The background of this Shirvan Ci Ci carpet contains a modular design composed of stars and small medallions with a hooked profile on a cobalt blue background, allowing all the contrasts to emerge gracefully. The minor border with “carnation” motif is well distributed and modulated. This extraordinary Shirvan Ci Ci carpet is certainly among the most coveted and sought after by collectors of antique Caucasian carpets.
