Antique Chinese Ningxia Rug, XIX Century. A magnificent example of a Chinese throne carpet featuring the 5-clawed dragon motif. This type of carpet was exclusively dedicated to high-grade lamas. The carpet is delightfully decorated with traditional motifs, such as the “chi” clouds, Ruy and the sinuous and well-distributed dragons on the background that protect the pearl of wisdom. The base of the carpet bears the motif of the sacred mountain. In this Ningxia, the refined, very delicate and tone-on-tone color combinations are also to be appreciated.
