Rug Description

This is an antique Bakshaish gallery-sized carpet woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1880-1900 and measures 425 x 173CM in size. The field of this rug is made up of repeating Herati or Fish design motives set on a dark blue background color. the border is made up of the classic floral motif which is flanked on each side by sickle leaves set on a highly decorative powder blue background color. This piece has centralized areas of wear that are consistent with its age, but due to the tightness of the weave, the wear does not impede the usability of this rug. This Bakshaish has been woven on a wool foundation and has 100% natural vegetable dyes.


At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
